I have taught the tin whistle and flute to children and adults of all ages, backgrounds, and musical experiences, and have experience teaching in both group settings and one-to-one. My teaching focuses strongly on learning to play by ear–that is, by hearing the music rather than following notes, in the traditional style. I do read music, however, and provide sheet music, ABC notation format, or other visual aids when necessary. Learning an instrument is an exciting challenge that you’re never too old to tackle!
